20 Questions. Ok, not really. Only 5.
Oct. 5th, 2009 09:27 pmIf you want to participate, here's how it goes...
1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.
1) What is your dream job?
Well, I suppose it depends on exactly what you mean by “dream job.” In terms of something realistic, right now my dream job is to become a psychology professor. I’ve just recently started grad school, so the next 5+ years are going to be spent trying to get closer to that goal. I used to want to be a teacher (I like 4th and 5th graders), but I don’t think I quite have the patience to work with kids all the time, lol. So, now, in an ideal setting, I envision myself at a small liberal arts college, teaching psych and doing research.
In terms of it’s-not-going-to-happen-but-if-it-did-it-would-be-awesome dream jobs, I used to really want to be actress. I was very shy and self-conscious growing up (still am, but less so, to a certain extent), so being able to simply be someone else for a little while was very freeing. I also got into photography during high school and think it would be very cool to take photos for a living. And finally, since I’ve discovered how much I enjoy writing, being a full-time author would also be a great dream job.
2) What are some things you really love about your life right now?
To put things very simply (because I'm lazy, lol)...
- My girlfriend.
- My family and friends.
- Being headed in the right direction, professionally.
3) How long have you been involved in fandom?
Let’s see... Well I first got my account on LiveJournal in January of 2008. However, I’d been lurking on LJ, and posting elsewhere before that. I posted the first chapter of my first fic on a yahoo!groups site for Popular... That was back in late July, 2007. Going back a bit further, I’d actually started reading fanfic sometime during my senior year of college, so that would have been sometime between late 2006 and early to mid 2007.
4) What is one food you cannot live without? Any reason why?
Hmm. Well, my first thought was basically... Not really. I don’t know, I don’t really have a definite favorite food or anything, and I’m not a picky eater. But well, to be pretty general, I guess I’d say meat. Nothing against vegetarians (and I do love a lot of vegetarian dishes), but I think I’d just miss meat too much. I’m definitely more of an omnivore, and happily so.
5) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?
Another one I had to think a bit about... I think it would be fun to live in France again at some point (not Paris, though...maybe around Lyon or Grenoble), but not permanently. I’ve been to that area of France before, and really loved it. Still, I wouldn’t want to permanently be so far away from everyone I know back in the U.S. So for somewhere in the U.S... Well I’ve always heard great things about both Seattle and San Francisco. A few summers ago, I went on an around-the-U.S. road trip, and really wanted to make it out to both the Pacific Northwest and San Francisco, but because of lack of time, we didn’t actually make it out there, so those are now high on my list of places I want to visit. I know people who have lived in both cities as well, and I’ve heard pretty much nothing but good things about them. I haven’t actually been to either of those places, though, so I’ll throw in Boston too... I grew up near there, and it’s really a fantastic city. There’s always a lot going on, but it’s more of a low-key city than a place like NYC.
So, you asked for one place and I gave you four, lol. Oh well.
Let me know if you want 5 questions! :)

Date: 2009-12-12 02:19 am (UTC)I guess we'll see where life takes me.
That's definitely how I'm looking at things right now. I know I'll be staying put for at least the next 4 and a half years, because of school, and after that... A lot of where I end up will be dictated by where jobs are open. But even if I don't end up living there, Seattle is definitely a city I'd love to go visit someday.
