It’s back!! Woohoo!! Man, I’ve missed this show. :)

Well, that was quite the kickass season premiere! Ghosts, and cabins, and rescuers, oh my!

So, it’s another flash-forward! Coolness. My thoughts during the opening part:
- Kablooie! Flying fruit is fun. [So is alliteration.]
- Uh oh, Jack’s drinking by himself. At least he’s without the crazy beard. And Jack knows whose car it is!
- Hmmm, who’s in the car? Wait for it, wait for it, it’s........Hurley! Hurley gets off the island!
- Ooooh, “the Oceanic Six,” huh? Jack + Kate + Hurley + ? + ? + ? (plus Sawyer, maybe, if you believe that he’s the one who’ll be “wondering where [Kate is]” in season 3)
- On the very-off-chance that I’m right, here’s my official prediction for who gets off the island: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Claire, Sun, and Jin (with the possibility of more people who wouldn’t officially be part of “the six” because they weren’t on the plane, e.g. Juliet or Desmond).

So, will we only be getting flash-forwards now? No, that can’t be. Because only six people leave, and I’m sure we’ll get episodes centering around more than just six people. But I’m also guessing that, just because someone doesn’t get a flash-forward, it won’t necessarily mean that they’re not part of “the six.”

I thought it was sad, how relieved Hurley was when the cop (Anna-Lucia’s partner!) threatened to put him in “the looney-bin.” Guess his life off the island isn’t too great either.

It was fun getting back to the island, seeing all these great characters again. And Rousseau is awesome. Loved the backhanded punch to Ben’s face. “She is not your daughter.” The stuff with Ben is interesting, as always. I do believe that he’s telling the truth -- that the so-called “rescue” isn’t exactly good news. But he’s lied so many times that there’s no way that anyone will believe him now. The boy who cried ‘wolf.’ Well, anyone except for Locke, that is. But Locke has always been crazy, so no one’s going to believe him either. But Ben had so many great facial expressions and snarky one-liners. He’s still creepy, but Ben’s awesome too.

Hurley’s absolute joy as he did the cannonball was cute. The filming of him underwater was eerily similar to the scene where Charlie dies, though. *sigh* So many sad reminders of Charlie this episode.

Kate/Evangeline Lilly is hot. I love how, when Jack’s getting ready to go look for Naomi, they share a nice hug...but later learn that Kate also used that time to steal the phone and then goes off on the real trail, because she knows what she’s doing and Jack doesn’t (but I don’t quite understand why she actually took the phone, since I don’t know why she’d think she might need it).

Matthew Abadon (sp?) is super-creepy. “Are they still alive?” Are who still alive? The people who didn’t get off the island?

Sawyer has come so far from the complete jackass that he was in the first season. He was the only one who offered to talk to Hurley about Charlie. But Hurley isn’t quite ready to fully grieve yet, so Sawyer kindly gives him space. And then Hurley loses track of the rest of the group within ten seconds. Ten seconds. Dude, that’s talent. To lose sight of people within ten freaking seconds, right after you assured someone that you’d be able to keep up. I know his mind was on other things, but seriously.

But then...OMG Hurley found Jacob! Or did Jacob find Hurley? Given what’s been said about Jacob in the past, it seems unlikely that Hurley would just happen to stumble upon Jacob’s cabin. And the door did open creepily/invitingly, like Hurley was supposed to come in? And when Hurley won’t come in, Jacob sends Locke to him instead? But why would Jacob want to see Hurley? Hmmmm. Ok, so my first reaction, when I watched the show on Thursday was pretty much along the lines of OMGWTF?!?! With the rocking chair, and the eye, and cabin that moves/disappears. Crazy stuff. But then, I watched the episode again today, and I’m not sure (because you can’t be sure about anything on this show)...but the guy in the rocking chair looked a lot like Christian Shephard. If that’s true...OMGWTF?!?! And the eye? To me, it looked like either Locke or Mikhail (does Mikhail ever die?), but who knows.

It was nice when everyone gets reunited again. The women get to hug their brave sharp-shooting men: Sun and Jin, Rose and Bernard, Alex and Juliet. Lol, j/k. I was confused by their hug for a second, but then remembered that Alex would have grown up around Juliet. The nice-ness didn’t last long, though. Again, so sad when Hurley broke the news to Claire. The two people who cared most about him. And by the way, Jorge Garcia did some great acting in this episode. Such a wide range of emotion.

“I am dead...but I’m also here.” Charlie!! I was happy (and confused) to see him again. Interesting that someone other than Hurley could see him too. So, it seems, that Charlie isn’t simply a hallucination. Still, Hurley can make him disappear, just like he did with Jacob’s cabin. This show is so trippy. And... “They need you, Hugo” ... Again, is “they” the people left on the island? What is Hurley supposed to do?? And, on an un-sentimental note, death seems to agree with Charlie...he looked hot!

I was actually just as surprised as Locke that Jack was actually going to shoot Locke, right in the face! I know that Jack isn’t exactly a fan of Locke (and Locke certainly hasn’t done himself any favors by giving Jack a reason to trust him), but to shoot him like that?? That’s some hardcore hatred right there. Jack no longer wants anything to do with diplomacy.

And Locke is really bad at persuasion. I do believe that he has always had the survivors’ best-interest at heart, but he needs to give them something more than “The rescue people are bad. I won’t explain why they’re bad. They just are. So come with me and give up your hope of going home anytime soon.” The only reason any of them follow Locke is obviously because of what Hurley says about Charlie, not because of anything that Locke himself does.

I think the last flash-forward, with Hurley and Jack is really important. (1) It confirms that this flash-forward happens before Jack’s flash-forward from last season (“I’m thinking about growing a beard”). (2) Again, the referencing to some secret that they’ve had to keep (the fact that there are still people on the island? the story of what really happened?). (3) It establishes, I think, that something happens off the island that makes Jack change his mind about going back. Because at this point, while Jack may be an alcoholic (or at least on his way to becoming one), he hasn’t yet turned into a complete wreck and started flying over the Pacific Ocean once a week, just hoping that it’ll crash. After last season, I had sort of assumed that it was something about the way that they left, that made Jack want to go back. Now I know that can’t be true. Will Kate change her mind too? And (4) is a question: Why is it that Hurley wishes he hadn’t gone with Locke, but he still thinks that Locke was right (i.e. they shouldn’t have left the island)?

And finally...the “rescue team” has arrived! Can’t wait to see what happens next!!
